This page provides information related to frequently asked questions and procedures surrounding the Praxis Prep Program in the School of Education. All students are expected to review and understand the information on this page, as you will be directed here often throughout the semester. It is important that everyone follows the rules, policies, and procedures outlined to ensure consistency and fairness across the program. Maintaining structure and organization allows me to support each of you efficiently and provide accurate guidance regarding Praxis testing, vouchers, and preparation. Please take time to read this page carefully before reaching out with questions. If you have any questions, I can be reached at jametrice.johnson@sus.edu
Every course in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction includes a Praxis voucher. Each course will have 2-4 vouchers depending on the course. This means if you are enrolled in multiple courses within the department, each course comes with its own voucher. The voucher covers one Praxis exam associated with that class. See link here to view which course includes which voucher.
If you have a voucher that you do not plan to use, you must donate it here. Donated vouchers are redistributed to students who need testing assistance. This helps build a voucher pool that benefits everyone in the program.
All Praxis vouchers are ordered through ETS by the university’s bookstore vendor, Follett. For Fall 2025, the Follett representative responsible for ordering and distributing vouchers is Amy Lawson. Her email address is a.lawson@follett.com.
This representative may change each semester, but as of Fall 2025, Amy Lawson is the person responsible for issuing vouchers. You will receive your voucher by email. Always check your Southern University student email account for voucher information.
If there is a delay in vouchers please understand that this is out of my control due to everything being processed through ETS directly.
To register for your Praxis exam, visit the ETS website at www.praxis.ets.org and create or log into your Praxis account. Make sure to store your username and password in a safe space.
When registering, you will select your test, test date, and location. After that, you will proceed to the payment screen. Enter your voucher only on the Order Summary page. Do not enter your voucher before selecting your location and test time or you will receive an error message.
You are required to add Southern University and A&M College (code 6663) as a score recipient during registration. This ensures your scores are automatically reported to the university. Everytime you register for a praxis exam you have to add Southern University as a Score Report Recipient.
ETS is updating their website constantly, so be prepared for procedures to change.

I am not affiliated with ETS. I do not have the ability to reset passwords, unlock accounts, process payments, or issue refunds. My only access is to view your official score reports once they are released.
Your 240 Tutoring subscription is active for 60 or 90 days, depending on your plan. When your subscription expires, you must contact me directly to renew it. Only I can renew your access.
To request a renewal, or access email me at jametrice.johnson@sus.edu
If you want access to Study.com, you must complete the required request form. Submit the form here. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an email with login instructions. Do not contact Study.com directly. All access is coordinated through the Praxis Coordinator.
If you are looking to test on campus, it will only be approved under extenuating circumstances.
Southern University is not an authorized ETS testing center. You may not simply schedule an exam and decide to test on campus. You must follow the full procedure or you will not be approved to test on campus. On-campus testing is only granted on a case-by-case basis when circumstances meet the guidelines.
Follow the procedures linked here to request on-campus testing.
If your professor requires a Praxis exam as part of your course grade, midterm, or final, you must communicate directly with your professor. Each instructor determines course requirements independently. Always confirm whether your course requires a Praxis exam and follow your professor’s instructions.
I communicate with many students daily through email and Microsoft Teams. Because of the volume of messages, please allow up to 24 hours for a response. I usually reply quickly, but please do not expect immediate responses outside of normal hours.
If you contact me after hours or on a weekend, expect a response on Monday.
Office Hours for Fall 2025:
M/W 8–10 AM, T/Th 9–10:45 AM
The best way to receive support is by scheduling a meeting here. Scheduling ensures that I can document our conversation and stay organized. I am a person of procedures, and I do not operate well in unorganized or chaotic communication. Following these procedures allows me to support you efficiently.
10) Experiencing an Issue with Your Voucher?
If you are having problems using your Praxis voucher, you must take a screenshot of the error message or code and send it to me by email. This allows me to verify that everything is being entered correctly before I contact the representative for assistance.
In most cases, it is not a voucher issue. The most common problems include:
The voucher being entered on the wrong screen
The wrong exam being added to the cart
Test prep materials being added instead of the actual exam
Each voucher is linked to a specific exam code and covers only the amount for that exam. You must register for the exact exam that your voucher was issued for. Entering it on the wrong test or adding additional products will cause the system to reject it.
To begin troubleshooting, please email me a clear screenshot of the error along with the exam name and code you are trying to register for.
11) If I Major In…, What Praxis Exams Do I Take for My Major?
This chart outlines the Praxis exams required for teacher certification in Louisiana based on your major. Each program area has specific Praxis exams you must take and pass before you can be recommended for certification. Use this chart to make sure you are studying for and registering for the correct exam. Be sure to review it carefully before using your voucher or scheduling your test.

12) Email Communication Reminder
If you are enrolled in my course, or if you are writing regarding any course in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, you must include the course name in the subject line of your email. I receive multiple emails and messages each day from many students across different courses. Including the course name in your subject line helps me quickly identify which class you are referring to and allows me to respond to your message more efficiently.
13) Praxis Exam Deadlines
Each semester has specific deadlines for completing your Praxis exams. These deadlines are important and apply to all students, whether or not you plan to begin residency.
If you are intending to start residency, you must complete your Praxis exams by the posted deadline so your scores can be processed in time for placement. If you are not starting residency, you are still required to complete your Praxis exams by the deadline to ensure that all results are received before the end of the semester.
Deadlines vary each term and are always listed on the Praxis website homepage, usually at the top of the page. It is your responsibility to review the website regularly and stay updated on all posted dates. Failure to meet these deadlines can delay your progress in the program.
14) Calendly Meetings
When scheduling a meeting through Calendly, please read the information on the booking page carefully. Everything you need to know about your appointment, including expectations and instructions, is listed there. You can schedule a meeting using this link: https://calendly.com/jametricejohnson. It is your responsibility on the day of your appointment to call me on Microsoft Teams at your scheduled time. All meetings are virtual due to ongoing health precautions and my responsibility to protect elderly family members. If you need a face-to-face appointment, you must email me directly to request approval.
15) Free Praxis Practice Test
Every Praxis exam includes one free Praxis Practice Test provided by ETS. The practice test is valid for 90 days or the first 10 uses, whichever comes first. You will only receive access to this free practice test after you have registered and paid for a Praxis exam. You cannot receive a free practice test before registering.
After you register for your exam, ETS will send a confirmation email that includes information about your free Praxis practice test. You can also access it by logging into your ETS account and selecting Purchases. Under Purchases, you will see all exams you have registered for. Scroll down within each exam to find your free Praxis practice test.
Follow the on-screen instructions to begin your practice test. If you experience any technical issues or have trouble accessing it, please contact ETS Customer Service for assistance.
16. If You Have Issues or Concerns
If you have issues or concerns and bring them to me or anyone else on the SOE team, and those concerns have already been addressed, or if those concerns are a result of you not reading or not following the rules and procedures, you will always be directed back to this page. Please make sure you are following all guidelines listed here so that our interactions remain documented and efficient.
This page serves as the official reference for all Praxis-related information. It is important that you read and understand everything outlined here before reaching out for assistance. More than likely, you will be assessed on this information, especially if you are enrolled in a Praxis Prep Course or any Praxis Labs.
